A Dandy was also used to mean a flamboyant or homosexual man.

What is the Dandylion magazine?

The Dandylion magazine is a zine meant to showcase art made by humans for humans. It is a meant to showcase human creativity and joy. Each issue is themed around similar words (e.g. Sunrise Sundae, Lime Limericks, etc.) and is given to artists, bakers, writers, photographers, etc. to work with.

Mascot?

The mascot for the Dandylion is a little Dandy lion named David. He is a dandelion Dandy lion with his beautiful suit, green carnation and locket with a photo of his … room mate.

Criteria for an entry:

1. Your art (whatever for it is) must be made by you, and cannot use any ai in the process at all.
2. It must relate back to that bi-monthly theme in some way (colors, depiction, meaning, tone, vibe, etc)
3. You must sign your work and date it for when you finished it.
4. Send it through two weeks before publishing date. (this is the date you will be given)
5. You must have fun, and enjoy the piece you made.

You don’t have to pay for a spot in the magazine, you just need to ask and a page or two will be given for your work.

Art form specific criteria:

Art (digital or traditional)

1. Must be made by you or in a group setting involving you.
2. Must have a signature and date
3. Give the name you wish to go by, a short description (choices and reason), piece title,  and any requests you have with it.

Photography

1. Must be a photo you took.
2. Give the name you wish to go by, the photo name, short description (choices and reason), a location (if comfy) and any request you have with it.

Fashion

1. Anything you styled / made yourself or with a friend.
2. Must have at least 3 photos of it on model and 1 separately.
3. Give the name you wish to go by, the photo name, short description (choices and reason), and any request you have with it.

Music

1. Album / Song must be fully made by you / your band.
2. Must have the album / song cover, and at least 3 photos of band / singer or anything representing the album / song (must be taken by you / band member)
3. Give the name you wish to go by, the album / song name, short description (choices and reason), meaning of the song, links to the song (Spotify, YouTube, Band Camp, etc. scannable ) and any request you have with it.

Cooking / Baking

1. Food and recipe influenced or developed by you (e.g. base + your idea).
2. Must include at least 3 photos of the food item you made and the recipe in clear language.
3. Give the name you wish to go by, the dish / drink name, short description (choices and reason), “why this dish?”, and any request you have with it.

Writing (poetry, short story, essays, etc., etc.)

1. The article must be written by you in full, and edited if possible but not necessary.
2. There is no set word count but ideally no longer than 2000 words.
3. Give the name you wish to go by, a short description (choices and reason), piece title, meaning of piece, and any requests you have with it.
